Application and selection procedures

The Freie Universität Berlin and the Technische Universität Berlin offer the Postgraduate Programme European Studies for the academic year 2018/2019. The official Call for Applications can be found in the download section on the left.

One academic year – 1st October until 30th September – consists of two semesters. Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be awarded the academic title "Master of European Studies" (M.E.S.). All courses are held in English.

Duration: Two semesters / one year (full-time) or four semesters / two years (part-time)
Fees: 4500,- Euro/ semester (full-time), excl. registration fees (approx. 300€/semester)
         2500,- Euro/ semester (part-time), excl. registration fees (approx. 300€/semester)
Degree: Master of European Studies (M.E.S.)
Start: Winter Semester (1 October 2018)
Location: Berlin
Language of Instruction: English

Admission requirements

  • Above-average university degree (BA)
  • Very good command of English (C1)
  • Work experience after completion of first academic qualification (including internships)

Applications for the academic year 2018/19 will be accepted via email to between 15 January 2018 and 18 March 2018. Furthermore, we kindly ask you to submit only one PDF-file. Please merge multiple documents to one file! A complete application consists of:

  • Application Form (see download section on the left)
  • Cover / motivational letter
  • CV (tabular form)
  • Copy of university degree(-s)
  • Copy of high school degree
  • Proof of required English skills
  • One reference from a previous employer
  • One academic reference

Degrees or references may be submitted later if need be, however, not later than the beginning of October 2018. This must be indicated in the application file!
